I have three favorite memories from this school year here at my middle school. My first favorite memory was when I found out I had PE with my friend Neera again. This is one of my favs because last year we had a great time and we pulled through it together. So I was very excited to have her in my PE again, this year me and her have had a lot of fun together in PE and we’ve gotten to know each other a lot better than we did last year. And I’ve learned that Neera is one of the greatest people you could have as a friend because she’s always there for you and she’s fun, funny, and outgoing. My second favorite memory of this school year is hanging out during wood-shop. This is one of my favorites because it’s just fun to get to know our bench more and just laugh and talk and have fun together. In wood-shop it’s usually very chill and our teacher doesn’t really care what we do as long as we’re not sitting there doing nothing, like if we’re talking he’ll be okay with it as long as we’re working on our project at the same time. So I really enjoy talking and hanging with my friends from wood-shop. My third favorite memory was getting to hangout a lot with my friend Scarlett during our 20% project work time. This was fun because we had the same topic so we could watch videos together and share recipe ideas but once both of us finished we went outside and just had fun the rest of the time. We went outside and did some gymnastics which was funny to watch. And she’s just a great person to be around and have as a friend, I love hanging out with her because it’s always a fun time. There are many more that are my favorites but sadly I’m only supposed to write about three, a lot of my favorites are with my core class table group, because we always have a fun time.
20% Project: Week 6 – Baking
Hey guys! I’m officially done with the 20% Project this is my last blog about it! That means that next week there won’t be another blog about my “fantastic” baking skills. This week my recipe included eggs, lime juice, sweetened condensed milk, graham crackers, sugar, butter, confectioner’s sugar, and whipping cream. My goal this week was to have it baked by Friday but I ended up adjusting my schedule and had it done by the end of Saturday so it was ready as a Mother’s Day gift for my mom on Sunday. Thankfully, I was able to get it done on time thanks to me managing my time correctly. It turned out looking amazing and I think this was the best looking thing that I’ve baked in my six weeks of baking. I have seriously made better progress and have become a better baker. This time there were no struggles at all and it went very smoothly. My week this time has been great. So I hope you enjoyed reading my last blog about my twenty percent project/baking journey!
Happy and Satisfied
This image has a profound message/meaning. The boy on the left seems to me like a very spoiled child yet he is very unhappy with everything he owns. The picture depicts that he is bawling his eyes out as well as screaming or yelling, despite everything he owns. The image on the right portrays a kid that seems to be very happy despite being poor and having little things and living in a small village. It shows that he is very happy and joyful and is pleased with all he owns. This image demonstrates that there are two kinds of satisfaction. The kid on the left wasn’t satisfied with all the things he had and still wanted more I’m interpreting that he wasn’t allowed more which made him extremely sad and mad. And the kid on the right is happy and content with what he has which means he is happy with little things. The caption for this image suggests that our good emotions are what come from if we are satisfied with the things we own. It shows that the worth of what you have isn’t based on how gigantic or brand new it is, but on how much you value it. Everyone will be more or less grateful for what they have, but we should always try to be like the kid on the right, always happy, even if we only have the littlest of things. When you feel like you have nothing, try to appreciate everything that you do have. There is a lot that we take for granted in the present day.
20% Project: Week 5 – Baking
Hi! I’m back, this week’s recipe was lemon bars! Next week I’ll be making a key lime pie for my mom for Mother’s Day. This week the recipe included butter, flour, confectioners’ sugar, lemons, eggs, and sugar. My goal this week was to have it baked by Sunday but plans changed in my schedule so I was to busy that weekend so I had to bake them on Tuesday instead. Thankfully I was able to accomplish this on time on Tuesday. It honestly was a bit rushed but they actually were pretty good, besides looking not that great. This time there were no struggles at all the entire time. Well maybe cutting it in squares when it wasn’t fully cooled yet, but that’s all. Other than that this week was great. So I hope you look forward to reading my next blog on my 20% Project about my time making a key lime pie!
Rad Reading – April
This month I read a book called Stellarlune by Shannon Messenger. This book is a 735-page book involved with fantasy fiction. It takes place in a fictional world called the Lost Cities and the Forbidden Cities, the human world. This book is about a girl named Sophie Foster and the crazy events that involve trouble with a group called the Never-seen which is a group of like villain people, among many other things. These crazy events are taken on with Sophie and her friends Fitz, Keefe, Maruca, Marella, Dex, Biana, and Wylie. She and her friends are part of a group called the Black Swan. That is like the good guy, you could I guess compare the black swan to the Justice League. In this book, Keefe has fled to the Lost Cities because he says it is better for everyone that way, when Sophie finds this out she goes after him to figure everything out.
I really enjoyed this book because it gave me the info I needed after the cliffhanger in the last book of the series. I also love and hate that they made another cliffhanger in this book but it makes you want to read the next book more badly. I also really liked this book because the two main characters Keefe and Sophie finally kiss and get together, which is everyone’s favorite duo. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the friend group and has read all the books before this one, as well as someone who likes mythical creatures and adventures, and some romance.
My favorite character is Keefe, he is my favorite character because he is clever, funny, sneaky, and caring. One quote to describe how he is sneaky is “’Chaperone?’ Keefe whined. ‘That’s going to cramp my style.'” (pg.70). This proves Keefe is sneaky because his usual style is sneaky and mischievous but with a chaperone around he wouldn’t be able to do all the sneaky things that he usually does, as well as not be able to be mischievous.
One of my favorite quotes is “No, I mean it. You balance each other. He helps you lighten up, and you help him focus. He boosts your confidence, and you keep his ego in check. You both dive headfirst into danger, but somehow you’re able to help each other play it a little smarter. And you both act more like yourselves when you’re together.” (pg.364). This is my favorite quote because Ro is speaking to Sophie all about how she and Keefe are perfect for each other, and inside Sophie knows she likes these facts but on the outside, she denies all feelings. This is my favorite quote because it’s about Ro being her silly self and also about how Sophie and Keefe should be a couple which I agree with. And the fact that I relate to it because on the inside I know I like this certain person but on the outside, I deny my feelings for him.
Favorite Room In My House!
Well I actually have two favorite rooms in my house. My two favorite rooms are the living room and my bedroom. The living room is my favorite for a-lot of reasons. The first being that it has a TV, this is good because then I can sit on the couch and watch my favorite shows. Or if we have a family movie night it’s good to watch in the living room because of the comfy couch, comfy chairs, and the big flatscreen TV. Second it’s perfect for sleepovers because it is a big spacious room with lots of space as well as it has a couch that is good for people to sleep on during the sleepovers. It’s also close to the kitchen where the snacks are easily accessible. As well as if there’s a person at the door or if a package is delivered I’ll know right away.
My other favorite room in my house is my bedroom for many reasons. I love it because there is where I can be alone, there’s a big fan that provides great cold air for me, as well as big windows for great sunlight provided, but I also love that I have a dresser full of all my trinkets and things as well as all my books that are easily accessible at any time.
20% Project: Week 4 – Baking
Hi guys I’m back! Entertaining you with another blog about my baking processes! This week my goal was to bake a frozen mocha marbled loaf. I was able to successfully accomplish this and it was actually pretty fun. This time I had no struggle whatsoever, except for maybe pulling out the foil from the pan with the dessert in it was all. My family really liked this recipe that I baked, they especially liked it because it included mocha which is my and my dad’s favorite in frozen desserts. This time I was at my own house so it was back to being easy, and very effortless to find each tool which was good. It was better because it allowed me to have the preparation process go faster. Next week I don’t quite know what I’m going to bake yet but hang in there I’ll figure it out soon. I thinking of making two recipes but I’m not totally sure yet. But this week was definitely a success! See you next week!
20% Project: Week 3 – Baking
Hey! I’m back, with baking for a third week. This week my goal was to bake Oreo-stuffed brownies. I was able to accomplish this, with only some struggles. The only struggle I had was baking it in a different kitchen since I stayed at my cousin’s house instead, so it was kind of a struggle to find things since I wasn’t familiar with where all the utensils and tools were. So far my family and friends have liked the recipes, and said they were delicious! I’ve enjoyed the process and also love that after I bake the recipes I get to eat them haha! Through these few weeks, I’ve let my parents, my brother, my cousin, and her parents try them, and thankfully all the compliments were good ones. Next week I’m going to bake another dessert and I think I’ll bake a recipe from my aunt called monkey bread, they’re kind’ve like cinnamon rolls, but not lol. But this week even I think that the brownies were superior lol!
20% Project: Week 2 – Baking
Hey, it’s Vanessa, I’m back again with a report on my baking progress this week. This week my goal was to bake two recipes. I accomplished my goal by baking both caramel pretzel bites and a triple cookie skillet pie. I was able to accomplish my goal and it was easier to bake the recipes I chose this time. This time I had a lot more struggles than last time, the first one of many that I had was that when I made the caramel pretzel bites, we weren’t able to tell the temperature of the caramel to know when it was ready because we didn’t have something called a candy thermometer. Second was when I was melting the chocolate for the second layer I didn’t know the exact time I should melt them and by the time I got the bowl out of the microwave and brought it over to the pan where it was the chocolate had already hardened again, third was when I was making the drizzle for the top the same problem came up with me not knowing how long to melt it for so, in the end, the so-called drizzle became more of a crumble topping for the top layer. So far this journey through baking has been a pretty interesting lot of events. Next week I plan on only making one recipe but still picking a hard enough one to up my baking skills since my parents will be gone in Cabo and my favorite aunt will be watching me. The reason for baking only one recipe is because I want to make it a lot smoother for my aunt when she watches me, and also because I want to spend the most time with her since she’s my favorite and she’s the coolest.
Famous Meal.
Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Scarlett Graham would be the top people I’d invite for dinner. First of all Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man just because I think so but also because I think he plays the role best and he also starred as Nathan Drake in Uncharted, he’s one of my favorite actors. Zendaya is another of my favorite actors and she starred in K.C. Undercover as K.C. a popular childhood Disney show to watch and M.J in the marvel Spider-Man movies which are the best ones. Also because both Zendaya and Tom Holland had the best lip-sync battle with Tom Holland a role-playing Rihanna which was the best. And lastly Scarlett is my best friend, literally I think my life would be pointless without her. There would be no meaning for it. And she’s always there for me at gymnastics on Saturday. The reasons I would have Tom holland over for dinner is because then I’d be able to meet one of my favorite actors, and I could get to talk to him about all the roles he’s starred as which would be fun since he’s one of my favorite actors. The reasons I would invite Zendaya to dinner as well would be first of all so she wouldn’t feel left out, and also because she’s one of my other favorite actors so me and Scarlett could talk with her and Tom holland about their roles they played, but also so she could come along with her boyfriend. The reason I would also invite Scarlett over is because she shares the same favorite actors as me so it would be fun to have her to there to ask them questions as well. And just because she’s my best friend that’s all.
